The Upfront Theatre is a nonprofit improv theatre in Bellingham, Washington. Founded in 2004 by world-renowned improviser Ryan Stiles, it became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2020, continuing its mission to serve audiences across Whatcom County and surrounding communities. Each year, it presents more than 250 live performances, offers year-round improv classes, and hosts community events that reach thousands of participants. The theatre provides welcoming, inclusive spaces where people can build confidence, explore creativity, and share laughter. In this environment, the simple act of saying “yes, and” fosters empathy, resilience, and meaningful human connection while strengthening collaboration through shared creative expression.
