Third Stone is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and education organization founded in Seattle in 2022. We are the heart of Bumbershoot, housing the education program and the main festival event.
We seek to restore trust and faith in the Bumbershoot brand by re-launching Bumbershoot as an opportunity to re-engage and highlight our regional arts and culture community with the core festival event on Labor Day weekend. Third Stone will elevate and transform Bumbershoot via our Four Pillars: Education, Community, Art, and Access, while continuing to honor the essential characteristics of the Bumbershoot legacy.
To help foster an inclusive, energized, and sustainable arts economy in the Pacific Northwest through youth education, festival, spectacle, and community driven programming.
Realign Bumbershoot with Seattle’s changing growth purpose and needs. We will collaborate with our community to create a compelling experience that lifts all voices, embraces diverse perspectives, and builds the next generation of arts and music producers.
Education
Festival as a classroom: The Bumbershoot Workforce Development Program is a tuition-free education program, strategically designed to engage and remove barriers for underserved communities and provide opportunities that both empower young people and strengthen the local creative economy.
Community
Bumbershoot acts as a platform for Seattle’s creative ecosystem as a whole, inviting all voices, advocates, and artists to engage as we align the festival with local needs.
Art
Fundamental to our human experience and a universal language, art is the bridge between communities, shifting perspectives, fueling local economies, and helping create a better quality of life.
Access
Equity and access are prioritized at every step: affordable ticket prices, tuition free education opportunities, and community-centric programming.
